Project Ireland

For the last two months the students of the 4a class were working hard on a bilingual project about “Ireland”. In English they did research work on laptops. They also listened to Irish ghost stories and to stories about leprechauns, banshees and merrows.
In history they were taught interesting facts about the conflict between the Roman Catholics and the Protestants and they learned why Ireland is divided in two parts. In geography they were informed why Ireland is called “The Green Isle” or “The Emerald Island” and they learned about some famous sights. But most of all the kids liked the stories about the Irish patron saint St.Patrick and how “his” day is celebrated among the Irish all over the world.
Together with their class teacher and the school´s native speaker the students created nice posters about the country. At the end of the project work the children presented their posters to the class, their English teacher and the native speaker. Every student told some interesting details about Ireland and her/his research work in English.
